Where to begin… My name is Jessica. I have always been misunderstood, talked too fast, and couldn’t focus on something. I am also a chronic overthinker, and if my head weren’t attached to my body, I would forget it. In high school, I was misunderstood and hidden in a darkroom in the photo department with paint on my clothes. As I have gotten older, I have been more aware of, you guessed it, my ADHD, minus medication I have tried for years to overcome the symptoms that I have.
There have been some positives. I am blessed with a loving husband, my partner in life and art, with whom I have shared over a decade together, two incredible kids who bring endless joy, a job I am passionate about, and a tight-knit circle of friends and family who provide unwavering support. In the last year, I have been told that my 7-year-old is now following in my footsteps with ADHD, which has brought me to why I am writing this blog.
Art has been the main staple in my marriage and our family. My husband and I are graphic designers for our day jobs, and my husband is also a fine artist. I genuinely love photography, and our 7-year-old has taken a liking to art and, believe it or not, fashion design. Upon researching art therapy, expression and creativity with ADHD, I found it extremely interesting. The idea of using art & creativity as a therapeutic tool to connect with my family, bond with my kids, and gain a deeper understanding of myself resonated with me. In this ever-growing world, I have decided to use the information I find online to learn new techniques and explore the potential of implementing art therapy, and all types of creative expression for our family’s well-being
I love this and love you! You are an amazing human and mama!
